Baltimore, MD (October 2021) — Two Health Professions Press books received awards in the 30th annual National Mature Media Awards Program. The program, presented by the Mature Market Resource Center, a national clearinghouse for the senior market, recognizes the nation’s finest marketing, communications, educational materials, and programs designed and produced for older adults.

Montessori for Elder and Dementia Care by Jennifer Brush, M.A., CCC-SLP, was awarded the Silver award in the Publications/Editorial Books category. Also in that category, fellow HPP book Total Engagement: Activities for Growth and Expression in Adults, Second Edition by Pamela Atwood, M.A., CDP, and Thomas Atwood, PT, received the Bronze award.

Montessori for Elder and Dementia Care teaches care communities how to create and sustain a team that integrates the Montessori philosophy throughout daily life and successfully promotes elders’ functional skills, independence, and identity. Total Engagement is designed especially for older adults as well as adults with special needs and is a unique collection of activities to meet the essential human needs for physical, mental, and emotional engagement, recognizing the supporting role of the environment and social connections in fulfilling these needs.

“We were delighted to take part in the Mature Media Awards Program this year, and were honored that two of our books were selected as winners,” says Melissa Behm, President of Health Professions Press. “Both books are practical, innovative guides from leading experts in the field of aging and elder care.”

The entries were judged by a distinguished panel of mature market experts from across the United States for overall excellence of design, content, creativity, and relevance to the senior market.
