This two-video training tool will help reduce burnout, contain staff turnover, especially among nursing assistants and aides, and improve relationships among staff and residents.

In the “Losing Control” video, viewers learn how to recognize, acknowledge, and deal with their trigger points and stress limits, particularly in situations that are beyond their control, such as being short staffed, coping with the demands of residents’ families, and becoming the target of a difficult resident or another staff member.

The second video, “Regaining Control,” teaches viewers how to do just that. They learn techniques that decrease or eliminate stressful episodes and that do not interfere with the delivery of high-quality care, such as learning to take care of themselves, leaning on their professional support system, and being optimistic. The videos encourage open, frank group or one-to-one discussion about stress and stress reduction methods and the best time to apply them, acting out, and getting help.
