Improving the quality of LTC residents' lives often requires understanding urinary incontinence and how much CNAs can do to help residents not only maintain a sense of dignity but even reduce UI. This video reviews the causes, accompanying symptoms, and most common occurrences of four types of UI. It demonstrates maintaining a bladder record, what role the environment can play in UI, and how to implement toileting programs such as scheduled toileting, habit training, and prompted voiding. Useful bladder retraining techniques are covered as well as basic continence hygiene such as catheter care and proper perineal cleansing. Includes a short quiz.
