Susan Koch, M.N., R.N., R.C.N.T., F.R.C.N.A.

Susan Koch: RN, MN (Research), RCNT, Bachelor of Educational Studies, Dip Professional Studies, FRCNA, FAAG, Senior Lecturer, Gerontic Nursing School of Nursing, La Trobe University, Melbourne, Victoria. Susan commenced nursing at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Scotland in 1975. She completed her Bachelor of Educational Studies at the University of Stirling in 1988 and a Master of Nursing (Research) in 1995 at RMUT, Melbourne. At present, she is undertaking her PhD at La Trobe University. Her clinical experience, research and teaching have been predominately in aged care. Her funded research projects include restraint use, work with people with dementia and their carers, and reminiscence. Susan has presented her work at conferences and through publications, both nationally and internationally. She has also worked with Residential Care Rights and the Office of the Public Advocate resolving care issues involving the use of restraints on older people in residential care.

Sally Garratt, R.N., MScN, F.R.C.N.A.

Sally Garratt: RN, RN, Cert Midwifery, Dip App Sc (Nurse Ed), B.Ed., MScN (Colorado), FRCNA, Associate Professor, School of Nursing, La Trobe University, Melbourne, Victoria. Director of Nursing Education, Elanora, Vision Australia Foundation, Melbourne, Victoria. Sally began her nursing career at the Launceston General Hospital, Tasmania, and completed her midwifery at the Queen Victoria Memorial Hospital, Melbourne. She was awarded a W K Kellogg Foundation scholarship to study in North America and completed a Master of Science program at the University of Colorado. She has undertaken research in the area of human environment interaction, especially in dementia care. Sally has presented over 60 papers and undertaken numerous consultancies.
