Engage people with Alzheimer’s disease in meaningful activities! Based on Sylvia Nissenboim and Christine Vroman’s popular book, The Positive Interactions Program of Activities for People with Alzheimer’s Disease, this seminar demonstrates fun, upbeat activities that can be used with both individuals and groups of people with dementia. Adaptable for participants at all stages of Alzheimer’s disease and for a variety of settings, the activities cover the creative arts, daily living skills, physical exercise, and the five senses.
Outlining a step-by-step approach, Ms. Nissenboim will teach seminar attendees everything they need to know to run a successful Positive Interactions Program, including how to:
- assess individuals with Alzheimer’s
- identify and/or adapt appropriate activities for each person/group
- prepare the activity materials and setting
- communicate clearly
- implement activities through familiarizing, naming, demonstrating, and encourage and rewarding
- deal with disruptive behaviors
- evaluate the success of each activity.
