> Seminar Description

There is an African proverb that says, “When an old person dies, a library burns.” Caregivers are aware that it’s important to know the individuals they care for, not just their diseases and disabilities. But how do they learn those people’s stories, especially if they have dementia?  Furthermore, how do caregivers build a two-way relationship so they are not just caring for those individuals, but so both parties—caregivers and care recipients—care about each other?

This interactive seminar promises creative answers and engaging activities that professional caregivers can use to build stronger relationships with their care recipients. Plus, family members will learn ways to reinvigorate interactions with older adults. Useful in both group settings and one-on-one situations, featured activities include icebreakers, discussion starters, reminiscence games, and multisensory exercises.

> Bonus!

Are you an activity director wanting to teach these strategies to others? This seminar can also be a training of trainers.
