Stephen Weber Long, Ph.D., author of Caring for People with Challenging Behaviors: Essential Skills and Successful Strategies in Long-Term Care, is a psychologist and psychoanalyst. He received a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in Berkeley/Alameda | ||||

and a postdoctoral diploma in psychoanalysis and psychotherapy from Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. Since 1992, he has been on the Extended Care staff at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Northport, New York. His work in long-term care has included roles as a trainer to caregiving staff, counselor to patients and residents, and consultant to supervisors and administrators. Dr. Long is also Adjunct Professor, teaching The Psychology of Aging, at Adelphi University. In addition, Dr. Long has a private practice in Huntington, New York, which includes consultation and psychotherapy for elders and caregivers. |
