Getting to Know You through Your Stories

Speaker(s): Kathy Laurenhue, M.A.

We are all made up of blood, bones, and stories. Our individual stories tap into what is unique and universal about each of us. Stories build bonds—and the exercises in this workshop quickly create community by revealing our common values and our varied virtues. Based on Getting to Know the Life Stories of Older Adults: Activities for Building Relationships, you will learn to explain your life in terms of:

  • metaphors
  • your best qualities
  • rules for living
  • places you have lived
  • what you celebrate and how, and
  • the historical trivia you relate to

Family and professional caregivers will learn how to apply what they learn for better relationships, job satisfaction, and quality of life for all.
