Baltimore, MD (July 2010) Two new Health Professions Press (HPP) titles received awards in the 19th annual National Mature Media Awards Program. Presented by the Mature Market Resource Center, a national clearinghouse for the senior market, this awards program recognizes the nation’s finest advertising, marketing, and educational materials designed and produced for older adults.
Facing Death: A Companion in Words and Images by Linda Watson with photography by Maggie Sale, was recognized with a Silver Award in the Book (Editorial) category. This unique resource helps individuals who are facing death, their family members and friends, and even professional caregivers to broach the subject of death and deal with the range of emotions and questions that arise. Through simple words and evocative full-color photographs, it opens the door to meaningful conversation and reflections at the end of life.
Strengthen Your Mind Program: A Course for Memory Enhancement by Kristin Einberger and Janelle Sellick received a Merit Certificate in the Book (Editorial) category. This ready-to-use course for boosting brain function meets a growing demand for such resources and contains all the background information, activities, agendas, participant materials, and quizzes needed to create a memory-enhancement course or program.
"We are honored to receive national recognition from the Mature Market Resource Center for these valuable new resources that so commendably represent HPP's vision as a publisher to advance progressive practice and research to change the culture of health care and revolutionize how we grow older," says HPP president Melissa Behm.
All entries in the awards program were judged by a distinguished panel of mature market experts from across the country for overall excellence of design, content, creativity, and relevance to the senior market. HPP titles have received medals in the National Mature Media Awards Program since 2001.
